Registration is now open for all winter/spring classes at the TNB Theatre School. In early 2022, new programs in Playtime Theatre, Junior Acting, Junior Musical Theatre, Filmmaking and a NEW playwriting class for adults will begin.

Playtime Theatre

K-Grade 2

Through theatre games, storytelling, and movement, students will explore and expand their creativity, imagination. The program will culminate in an open class where they will share the games, exercises, and play they have been working on throughout the semester.

Junior Acting

Grades 3 – 5

Students receive introductory training in acting while embarking on a story creation process that focuses on scene development, character creation, improvisation and collaboration. Through games and exercises, students will work to find characters and stories that will be refined into a final script.

Junior Musical Theatre 1

Grades 3 – 5

Saturdays: 10:00 – 1:00 PM

Students receive introductory training in dance and acting through games, exercises, and bringing to life popular musical theatre scenes and choreography. Students will learn about character development, and storytelling through music, movement, dance, and scene work as they get to explore several different roles, styles and genres of musical theatre. Students’ work will culminate in a junior version of a popular musical.

Junior Musical Theatre 2

Grades 3 – 5

Students receive introductory training in dance and acting through games, exercises, and bringing to life popular musical theatre scenes and choreography. Students will learn about character development, and storytelling through music, movement, dance, and scene work as they get to explore several different roles, styles and genres of musical theatre. Students’ work will culminate in a junior version of a popular musical. Each student will have two tickets for family or friends to attend their final performance.

Intermediate/Senior Filmmaking Class

Grades 6 – 12

Students will study the many aspects and roles involved in filmmaking with the award winning filmmakers of Strike Pictures, including acting for the camera, directing, screenwriting, art direction, cinematography, and editing. As a class, students and the Strike Pictures team will go through the process of creating, shooting, and editing an original short film.

Adult Playwriting 

Ages 19 and Up

Thursdays 7:15-8:45pm

In this 8-week course, National Theatre School Playwriting graduate, Jena McLean will guide you through the process of playwriting from start to finish. Classes will cover topics such as idea generation, exploratory writing, dramatic events and objectives, structure and formatting of scripts, and character creation. Students will walk away with a deeper understanding of what it means to write a play, as well as some writing they are proud of.
