    Payment 

    If you are not paying via credit card, show fees are to be paid to the Stage Manager the day of the performance by cheque made payable to Theatre New Brunswick.

    Cancellation Policy

    Weather Cancellations

    • Performances canceled due to inclement weather and school closures will be rescheduled when possible; otherwise the option of a full refund or a full credit for a performance for the following season is available.

    School Cancellations

    • If your school must cancel your scheduled performance, 50% of your payment will be refunded up to one week prior to the performance, after which there are no refunds for cancellations.

    Student Seating

    Unless seating is provided, the students will be seated on the floor. Teachers and school representatives are responsible for their own seating and should be present for the entire performance. 

    Performance Space

    Please Provide the Following:

    • access to the space one hour before the performance

    • a minimum playing space of 22’ wide and 20’ deep with a 10’ ceiling height.

    • a single isolated household electrical outlet (preferably backstage).

    • two tables: one for props 2’ wide by 5’ long; another for sound (large enough for at least 2 laptops)

    • a changing area near the playing space and out of view of the students.

    • a technician/custodian to turn on theatre/gym lights, lift basketball hoops, etc.

    Each booking includes:

    • One live performance of Dinostories! Three Prehistoric Fairy Tales at your school performed by two actors and a stage manager. Approximately 45-50 minutes.

    • A 10 minute Q&A with the performers after the show.

    • A study guide with materials and activities for your students.

Presented by the esteemed Professor Glasses, and the up-ROARious Dina O’Saurus (it’s Irish!) Dinostories is a high-energy, musical spectacle that takes familiar fairytales and tosses in some new carnivorous characters! Sure, sometimes Professor Glasses can get a little too serious, and Dina can get carried away, but together they discover there’s no wrong way to learn!

Nominated for an ECMA for Children's Entertainer of the Year, Dinostories will have you tapping your feet and humming along to this musical, comic, prehistoric extravaganza!

THEATRE WORKSHOP: WE’RE ALL GENIUSES!

Inspired by the themes of Dinostories, students will learn some of the fundamentals of theatre through games and improv exercises. These activities will spark their imagination while encouraging teamwork, collaboration, and building confidence!

Dan Bray - Playwright

  • Dan Bray is a multidisciplinary artist who is very lucky to have eked out a living in the arts - especially one that occasionally lets him use the word "eke." As founder and artistic director of The Villains Theatre, he has created and staged more than 25 original works and adaptations. Most recently, his original short play The Jackson Elementary Grade 6 Drama Club presents: BLOOD + SNOW: The Donner Party’s Fatal Foray in the Sierra Nevada won the Toronto Fringe’s 24 Hour Playwriting Competition and was produced for the upcoming Halifax Fringe Festival. His original musical adaptation of Beauty & the Beast was produced by Shakespeare by the Sea this past summer, and his national award-winning mystery Deepwater can be seen at Neptune Theatre in October. 

Alex Rioux - Director

  • Alex is a theatre producer, performer, and educator based in Wolastoqey Territory. Through their internship with Solo Chicken Productions, Alex began their professional practice under the guidance of Lisa Anne Ross to develop and execute new works of physical theatre and innovative community programming. It was through Solo Chicken that Alex began development on their physical-theatre production ‘Fruit Machine’, which made its debut at the 2023 Notable Acts Theatre Festival.

    Alex has also worked closely with Theatre New Brunswick in a multitude of capacities, and it’s here that they’ve been mentored on producing and directing by AD Natasha MacLellan. Throughout the years, they’ve directed and produced for several local companies such as NotaBle Acts Theatre and Bard in the Barracks. Alex acted as the Artistic and Executive Director of the Braver Stages Festival, NB's premiere festival for the fostering and promotion of 2SLGBTIA+ theatre works, and in that time produced 7 original New Brunswick scripts. They also served as the Interim Artistic Director at the acclaimed Ship’s Theatre Company in Parrsboro, NS.

Noella Murphy - Playwright

  • Noella Murphy (she/her) is a disabled actor, costume designer, visual artist, and all around clown. She holds a BFA from NSCAD University, and is an alum of Kinsale’s Wooden O Drama Program (Ireland). As a collaborative theatre professional, Noella has worked with many groups around the province. She co-created Dinostories: 3 Prehistoric Fairy Tales with Dan Bray - a commission for Festival Antigonish’s 2022 summer season, which has since played in other venues around Nova Scotia. Prior to that, she has helped devise various shows for festivals such as the Halifax Fringe (Worry Duck) and Nocturne: Art at Night (Fox Hatch), and she has been an instrumental collaborator with groups such as The Villains Theatre and North Barn Theatre Collective. Currently, she is developing a clown show about chronic pain entitled Flower Bed, which will premiere at the 2025 Mayworks Halifax Festival of Working People & the Arts. 

Bingly and the Rogues

  • Bingly and The Rogues are a group of musicians and friends from Antigonish Nova Scotia who came together to create fun and funny music for kids. They were nominated for an East Coast Music Award in 2019, 2022, and 2023. Bingly and the Rogues' music has been featured on numerous international children's music radio programs, as well as CBC programs like the East Coast Music Hour and Mainstreet. They have written music and songs for children's theatre including Dinostories! from Villains Theatre and A Potion for Emotion from It's Gonna Be Great Theatre.
