TNB to hold auditions for 2011-2012 season

May 25, 2011

Fredericton, NB – In a season that will offer New Brunswick audiences everything from modern classics to Broadway musicals, TNB hopes it will also feature several New Brunswick theatre artists. A province small in both size and in numbers, New Brunswick punches far above its weight with the quantity and quality of world-class performers that have emerged from the province in recent years. Theatre New Brunswick will be holding auditions for these established and emerging artists on Saturday, June 11, from 3-6pm at their 31-55 Whiting Road location in Fredericton.

Theatre New Brunswick announced their 2011-2012 season last month which includes three Main Stage productions and two Next Stage studio presentations; roles in these productions will require a professional equity contract. The season also includes two Young Company productions, which will feature emerging non-equity artists. Theatre New Brunswick will hold open auditions for most of these productions on June 11: The 39 Steps, The Gifts of the Magi, The Musical of Musicals, and The Dollar Woman (TNB Main Stage and TNB Next Stage) and; A Child’s Garden of Versesand The Secret Garden (TNB Young Company).

Theatre New Brunswick is also in the process of expanding and updating its information on New Brunswick theatre artists to create a local pool of talent for various professional and amateur opportunities that arise within the company. With this in mind, TNB invites all theatre artists to make themselves known to the organization on June 11. Whether the audition is for a specific role in a 2011-2012 production, or a general audition to highlight talent, TNB welcomes all New Brunswick actors.

All theatre artists wishing to audition on June 11 must contact Theatre New Brunswick no later than June 3 to book an appointment time. Full character breakdowns and production information can be found by clicking here. Actors will be asked to prepare sides from the play(s) they are auditioning for. Actors auditioning for The Gifts of the Magi or The Musical of Musicals will be asked to sing a musical side unaccompanied from the chosen play. They should also be prepared to sing an additional song of their choosing.
