We are happy to work with established, emerging or educational arts groups, corporate events as well as non-profit organizations. We do not rent to private groups (i.e. costume parties or weddings). Our 2000 square-foot studio theatre at 55 Whiting Road is available for rent all year round, subject to availability. Ideal for readings, workshops rehearsals and small performances. The best availability for rentals is Tuesday, Friday or Saturday evenings as well as Saturday and Sunday afternoons.

As we continue to develop this space, please note the following limitations:

Fees & Charges

Hourly (two-hour min.): $15

4hr Rehearsal Call $50

8hr Rehearsal Day is $80

+ Plus 1$ facility charge per person per day using the space for the period of the rental.

4hr Performance Call $80

+ $0.50 facility charge per patron

A performance call includes 1hr of Production Manager time at the top of the call. Additional technical staff time is $16/hr

*All studio rentals require the presence of a TNB staff member at an additional cost of $16.00/hr.

Prop Rentals: Everything from furniture to hand props are available for rent.

Costume Rentals: A wide variety of periods and styles are available. Please note we do not rent wigs or antique pieces. Hat rentals require special permission of the Production Manager.

Technical Equipment

Some equipment requires a certain level of skill and renters may be asked to demonstrate their knowledge in operating these items.

Lighting equipment: A full lighting rig with an assortment of conventional lights including Lekos, Fresnels and Pars as well as:

2 follow spots
3 24-channel dimmers
ETC express console
Note: TNB does not rent sound equipment.

Note: Discounts apply to rental fees only. Pull fees and restock fees are direct costs to TNB and are not discounted.

PULL & RE-STOCK FEES

Renters will set up an appointment with TNB to source and pull items and an appointment to return and re-stock items at end of rental period. $20 / hr charged in 15 minute increments. On evenings and weekends a two-hour minimum ($40) will be charged.

Important guidelines

TNB reserves the right to refuse rentals. Rentals may not be available during the week prior to and/or following TNB’s own productions. We reserve the right to recall items at any point.

TNB requires at least 24 hours notice prior to booking or cancelling an appointment time.

For no-shows a base pull fee will be charged and invoiced:

½ hour during business hours
1 hour after business hours and on weekend
The Production Manager or a designated staff person will be available to facilitate the pull and re-stock but renters are responsible for providing their own labour and transportation.

Set, prop and costume pieces must be transported in a covered / closed vehicle. All shipping fees are the responsibility of the renter.

A checklist of how to care for and ship any rented item will be given to renters by the Production Manager.

No alterations are to be made without permission from the Production Manager

Damaged or lost items are repaired or replaced by TNB at the cost to the renter. If the damage or loss occurs prior to the performance use of the piece, TNB may be able to accommodate repair or replacement but this is not guaranteed.

Prior to return all wardrobe / fabric items must be dry-cleaned as per care and handling instructions provided by the Production Manager or a cleaning fee will be charged. DO NOT MACHINE WASH ANY COSTUME PIECES. If a costume leaves on a hanger, it must return on a hanger.

All items must be returned to a TNB staff member IN PERSON. Any items simply dropped off may result in refusal of future rentals.

The return date is determined at the time of the rental. The return date can be changed by contacting the Production Manager directly. Late returns are charged a rate of 15% of rental fee per day.

Fees & Charges

There will be no fee charged for a rough estimate.

$24.50/hr will be charged for full budget breakdown and project management. This would be approximately 10 hrs a week for duration of the build.

$18.00/ hr for carpenters, painters, prop builders and stitchers.

$18.00 / hr for installation during business hours / $24.50 /hr for evenings and weekends. Please note: Requests for TNB staff for installation must be confirmed with the Production Manager at time of build approval.

TNB will charge a 10% administration fee on final build price.

Important Guidelines

Most builds require a minimum of two months notice prior to build start date.

Build start dates must be at least one month prior to performance.

TNB set builds are subject to staff availability and TNB reserves the right to decline any build request.

TNB is not responsible for pick up, transportation or drop off of set.

IF TNB Staff are required for set installation this must be confirmed at the time of design and build approval. Rates will apply as outlined above.

In rare circumstances TNB may also be able to accomodate costume builds.
