TNB Theatre School’s Senior Musical Theatre students take to the stage with one of the world’s most popular and longest running musicals, Les Misérables.
Wrought with themes of redemption and revolution, this Tony award-winning musical is set in early 19th-century France, and is based on Victor Hugo’s 1862 novel of the same name.
Supported by one of the most recognizable scores in musical theatre history, this epic story explores themes of struggle against adversity. Petty thief Jean Valjean, imprisoned for stealing a loaf of bread, is released from his 19-year term. Not only does he become an honest man, but the Mayor of a prosperous town and a loving adoptive father. Unfortunately, he is violating his parole in the process. The relentless Inspector Javert, who makes a decent life for Valjean impossible, consequently pursues him. Only years later, after Valjean proves his worth during a bloody student uprising, does the ex-convict finally feel fully redeemed.
