Fredericton, NB – Theatre New Brunswick is proud to present DOUBT, A PARABLE by John Patrick Shanley. This well-known play presents a gripping, suspense-filled tug-of-war between a priest and a strong-minded nun. It is also the recipient of numerous awards, including the 2005 Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award.
Running October 1-4 at the Fredericton Playhouse, DOUBT, A PARABLE stars Judy Marshak as Sister Aloysius, and Graham Percy as Father Flynn, with Mélanie LeBlanc as Sister James, and Catherine Bruhier as Mrs. Muller. Opening Act LATOUR by Norm Foster stars Marshall Button as Biencourt, Graham Percy as Charles LaTour, Mélanie LeBlanc as Lady LaTour, and Tim Turnell as Charnisay.
Theatre New Brunswick is also thrilled to announce that our first Main Stage play of the season boasts a seventy-five percent New Brunswick cast.
“I am very proud of the caliber of cast we've assembled,” said Artistic Producer and Director Caleb Marshall. “The acting is superb. We are delighted to bring you some of our province’s best theatre artists.”
Continues Marshall, “We are also bringing you some of the best, most current theatre in North America. DOUBT is a production that draws you in and sways you back and forth, while doing what all great theatre should do, surprise and entertain you.”
Joining Director Caleb Marshall on the creative team is New Brunswick’s nationally recognized Set and Costume Designer Patrick Clark; Resident Sound Designer and Composer, and multiple East Coast Music Association award winner, Michael Doherty; and seasoned Lighting Designer Chris Saad. Costume Designer for LATOUR will be TNB’s Head of Wardrobe, Sherry Kinnear.
DOUBT, A PARABLE follows Sister Aloysius as she investigates suspicions that Father Flynn is giving a student too much attention. Convinced of his guilt, but lacking any evidence, her investigation turns into an elaborate game of cat and mouse. The question of doubt is for you to determine.
In Opening Act LATOUR, Lady LaTour shines as a pioneering Canadian Heroine, defending Fort LaTour against her husband’s archrival. A great New Brunswick epic done in a fast, fun, and uproarious way!
DOUBT, A PARABLE runs Thursday, October 1 – Saturday, October 3 at 8PM, and Sunday, October 4 at 2PM at the Fredericton Playhouse.
