TNB Launches Adult Ensemble

01 September 2009

Fredericton, NB Theatre New Brunswick is thrilled to mark its 10th anniversary with the formation of the Adult Ensemble; a new training opportunity for adult actors that's unique to the province.

For the past ten years, TNB Theatre School has offered a wide range of programming and artistic outlets for students aged 4-18. TNB mentors and supports young actors from their professional training through TNB Young Company, and the Main Stage is committed to celebrating New Brunswick's best theatre professionals. But, until now, there has been no outlet for the adult community actor, "There is tremendous talent in this province and a missing link," said Artistic Producer Caleb Marshall, who will also lead the ensemble,"there is a need for advanced training. Actors are hungry to have a process that makes sense to them, and that anchors them in the world of the play."

The ensemble will be made up of emerging and established community actors, coming together to explore and be challenged by theory and technique from the core three disciplines of acting, voice, and movement. "Belonging to a company of actors and embracing the risk and trust that comes with that is very important to this kind of training," said Marshall, "which is the reason I chose the ensemble format." He encourages any interested local performer to apply; "an ensemble has to be made up of a diverse group of characters."

Auditions will be held for the 14 available places Sunday September 13th from 7-9pm at Theatre New Brunswick; 55 Whiting Road, Unit 31. Interested applicants should contact TNB at 460-1386 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it to book an audition timeslot

Those auditioning will be asked to prepare a short contemporary monologue (of no more than 10 lines), as well as 5 lines of Shakespeare. Tuition for the program is $275.00 per term. The ensemble's first term will run for 10 weeks on Sunday nights from 7-9pm beginning September 20th.
