A Doll’s House

TNB’s inaugural Next Stage season begins this fall with A Doll’s House by Henrik Ibsen. A new adaptation by Duncan McIntosh, and co-produced with The Montgomery Theatre, it is our first modern classic in nearly two decades. Nora loves her husband above all else. But when she risks her reputation in order to save his, she begins to question her devotion and finds herself fighting for her own life.

As Artistic Producer Caleb Marshall notes, Fredericton has always seemed an ideal location to stage a piece like A Doll’s House. “As a small loyalist-founded capitol city that retains much of its Victorian flavour, Fredericton is a perfect setting for many of the great plays that emerged in the late Nineteenth Century.” Duncan McIntosh of the Montgomery theatre is thrilled to partner with Theatre New Brunswick, our first out of province co-production in over a decade. McIntosh notes that “this new production of A Doll’s House, one of the world’s great classic plays from L. M. Montgomery’s lifetime, will be a delight for our audience, and we are thrilled to share a little island art with our Maritime cousins across the bridge.”

A Doll’s House runs September 14-18, 2011 at The Black Box Theatre, St. Thomas University.
